My point of origin

The Harold Ward jr. Family in Hope Ranch, 1950-1954

The Wards moved from Wayzata, Minnesota to the warm climes of California in 1950. They first settled in Hope Ranch, then moved to Montecito for a period, and thence to Carpinteria.

The entire family went on a year long cruise from Santa Barbara to Puerto Rico on a 65’ wooden Grebe design motor-sailing ketch, the Devshir.  A year later the Wards returned to live on a 17 acre avocado rancho in Carpinteria, and eventually all the kids left home, and Harry and Roz divorced and everyone lived happily ever after... sort of.
I built a 43’ cruising yacht (Sounder) and left for the South Pacific in 1971, lived for 20 years in New Zealand, and am now happily residing in Australia....permanently.
